Top Six Review

Okay, I am writing this review out of pure FRUSTRATION, DISAPPOINTMENT, AND ANGER! What happened on American Idol last night? Nothing good, I'll tell you that! Carly Smithson left this week, dragging me this close to shutting off Idol for good. What's your problem America? :P to you!

David Archuleta
"Think Of Me" - from 'Phantom of the Opera'

David was his usual amazing self. But seriously David, what did you expect last night when you were called up? You looked scared to death that you were going to leave! Believe in your voters David!

* * * * performance
David Cook
"Music Of The Night" - from 'Phantom of the Opera'

This was FANTASTIC! I love the fact that David Cook said that the unexpected-aspect of this performance was that he didn't change the song! Bravo!

* * * * * performance
Jason Castro
"Memory" - from 'Cats'

Okay Jason, obviously you aren't taking this competition all that seriously. That's right! I went there! I caught you yawning behind stage and cracking jokes when people were being called into the bottom two! GO HOME!

* * performance
Brooke White
"You Must Love Me" - from 'Evita'

Poor Brooke. She forgot her lyrics and had to start over, but she wasn't even in the bottom two. Hmmm...

* * performance
Carly Smithson
"Superstar" - from 'Jesus Christ Superstar'

This is what I don't get. Carly was so good last night that I was literally jumping out of my seat, and yet she still went home! The judges loved it and the crowd did too. So what happened? Don't ask me! WE'LL MISS YOU CARLY! CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR ALBUM!!!

* * * * * performance
Syesha Mercado
"One Rock n' Roll Too Many" - from 'Starlight Express'

This was also a very good performance. Syesha is definitely and actress! I want to see her on Broadway! But why was she in the bottom two? She was one of the best!

* * * * * performance

What do YOU think happened last night? What did YOU want to happen? What are YOU upset about right now? I WANT TO KNOW!!!

American Idol Review: Top 10 (!)

Welcoming the American Idol Season 7 Top 10!

  • David Cook did fabulous this week! He really does surprise me every week with the things he does with the music. On Tuesday night he used one of those voice mixer things in the middle of his performance. (You know, like the Geico commercial?) Simon did complain about him getting a little bit predictable, though. Well excuuuuse me! * * * * performance
  • David Archuleta had a much better performance this week than last, but he continues to do more ballads than up-beat songs. I'm getting kind of tired of it! He really should try something new this Tuesday. (Oh, by the way, my dad thinks that he has a bit of a Broadway type voice. I kind of agree!) * * *.5 performance
  • Michael Johns had a bad week. The song that he chose was telling a story, so when he condensed this 5 minute long song into 1:30, it got kind of confusing. Plus he forgot some of his lines and was off key. Better luck next week Michael! * * * performance
  • Jason Castro surprised me! He sang a Beatles song that was half in French! It was very cool, but yet again he had some pitch problems. I would also like to see him try a different type of music. A little less folk-tuney would be nice. * * *.5 performance
  • I didn't get to see all of Chikezie's performance, but I'm pretty sure he did a slower song. It was okay, especially since nothing could beat his performance from last week! * * * performance
  • Brooke White was all decked out in sunshine Tuesday night! She was wearing a yellow dress with a yellow back round to match with her song. Simon didn't like this aspect of the performance and none of the judge's liked her dance moves. Sorry Brooke! No more "woo-ing!" * * *.5 performance
  • Syesha was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! She sang a pretty ballad with much grace. Good job! * * * * performance
  • Ramiele was good, but not good enough for my taste. She tried doing a more up-beat tune, but she seems to be better with ballads. She's nice and everything, but I think that she should leave the show soon because I'm getting very bored with her. * * * performance
  • Kristy is still here?! I'm about ready to shoot myself over this girl! She is soooooooo annoying! Her performance this week was better than any of her others, but she's been in the bottom EVERY WEEK! She NEEDS to go! * * performance
  • Carly did a great job in my opinion, but apparently America didn't think so because she was in the bottom three! What gives? * * * * performance
  • Amanda left us this week. Her performance was just okay, but it was still sad to see her go. I personally liked her, but a lot of people I've talked to didn't. She's one of those you-like-them-or-you-don't type people I guess. We'll miss you Amanda! * * * performance

3/11 American Idol Review

The votes are in and DAVID HERNANDEZ is out. David H., as well as Kristy and Syesha were in the bottom three. Here is how the night went...

The theme of the night was Lennon/McCartney songs. Apparently this song book has been wanted for six seasons! The contestants certainly did a good job (for the most part, anways!).

Chikezie Eze
"She's A Woman" - John Lennon & Paul McCartney
Chikizie is in the house! Woo-woo! He was on fire! Fantastic! I loved the whole country vibe at the beginning, and the rock parts were fab too. Nice Chikezie!
* * * * * performance
David Archuleta
"We Can Work It Out" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
This was by far his worst performance. The crowd favorite forgot some of his lyrics, much to his disapointment. But all is well. We love him anyways!
* * .5 performance
David Cook
"Eleanor Rigby" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
This "Black Horse" as Paula likes to put it, is going strong! David continues to impress me with his amazing ability to turn anything into rock music and last night was no exception!
* * * * * performance
David Hernandez
"I Saw Her Standing There" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
David left with a bad performance in his memory. It was a fairly simple song, but he over did it with the dance moves and attitude. In my opinion it was verging on creepy! See ya David!
* * * performance
Jason Castro
"If I Fell" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
I really like this guy, but I think he needs to work on his pitch a little bit. The high notes that he his known for are getting a little bit hard to listen to.
* * * .5 performance
Michael Johns
"Across The Universe" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
I actually really liked this performance! It might have been simple and safe as Randy and Simon said, but I thought that was what was so great about it. Great performance Michael!
* * * * performance
Amanda Overmyer
"You Can't Do That" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
Wow! This rockin' skunk look-a-like is really good! If you don't like her, you don't. But if you like her style, she is really fun to listen to! Go Amanda! It's your birthday! We're gonna party like it's your birthday! (Just kidding. It's not actually her b-day. ;)
* * * *.5 performance
Brooke White
"Let It Be" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
This was a really great song choice for Brooke. (Obviously, because Simon loved it!) Her voice sounded good and you could tell she was really into it. Ryan loves your shoes, Brooke! ;)
* * * * performance

Carly Smithson

"Come Together" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
Two words: L-O-V-E-D I-T! She finally picked the right song! Brava Carly!
* * * * * performance

Kristy Lee Cook

"Eight Days A Week" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
Yuck, yuck, YUCK! Kristy's country version of this song was YUCKY! And that creepy thing she does with her eyes when she sings? Ugh! Even always-nice Paula didn't like it! I can't believe she is still here! At least David H. could sing!
* performance
Ramiele Malubay
"In My Life" -John Lennon & Paul McCartney
Good, but boring. Ho-hum. Ramiele, please save our pillows from being covered in drool and pick an up-beat song, okay?

* * *.5 performance

Syesha Mercado

"Got To Get You Into My Life" - John Lennon & Paul McCartney
I thought this was pretty good, but something was missing. I'm not sure what though...
* * *.5 performance

Do you agree with my review? Leave a comment and let me know AND who you thing will be in the top 2!

AI Top 12

Well, last night American Idol reached the halfway mark. It was a joyous night for some, but a sad night for others. Here are the results:

Voted off:

  • Kady Malloy *---> This girl really annoyed me! She couldn't sing for the life of her and Simon was right: Kady didn't have a personality at all!

  • Luke Menard *---> Little girly voice that was not at all an enjoyable expierience to listen to. I know he is the high voice in a band, but he can't sing on his own. Sorry Luke!

  • Asia'h Epperson * * * * * ---> Wow! She was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Her voice was very different: it sounded almost broken (if you know what I mean), but in a way that sounded good. I'm so sad to see her go!

  • Danny Noriega * * * *.5---> This guy is one flaming ball of fire! He has an attitude that can sometimes get out of hand (ex: his last preformance), but Danny's voice is really great. I think he should have stayed as well, but probably would have been voted off next week.

Top 12: (drum roll please!)

  • David Cook * * * * *---> A cool guitarist that can turn any song into rock. One of my top 2 fav's!

  • David Archuleta * * * * *---> At 17 years old, this singer has a very mature voice. My other favorite, I'd put my money on him! $20 he's going to win!

  • Jason Castro * * *.5---> Dread dude! With that hippy hair comes hippy attitude! Jason is excellent at singing little folky songs. Very nice, very nice!

  • David Hernandez * * * *---> A very good singer. Can sing just about anything with ease and style.

  • Michael Johns * * *.75---> A little Aussie, a little bit rock, and little bit blues. This guy is cool!

  • Chikezie * * *---> Sounds like your average male pop singer. Good, but nothing exciting. I think he should have been voted off instead of Danny because he has no originality, no sparkle.

  • Brooke White * * *.5---> Another good folk singer. Love the hair!

  • Syesha * * *.75---> How do you spell it? S-YES-sha! This girl can sing (with a 'fro!)

  • Ramiele Malubay * * *.75---> I can't believe the voice that comes out of this tiny girl! Wow! But I do think that she needs to step it up a notch, her music is getting kind of boring...

  • Carly Smithson * * * *---> This Irish chick has got it going on! She can really belt it out! Awesome!

  • Amanda Overmyer * * * *---> Rock on! She's a nurse, but she has a very slick rocker style. Love it!

  • Kristy Lee Cook * *.5---> One word: -B-O-R-I-N-G! She can sing okay, but she is totally forgettable. Asia'h should have stayed in her place, in my highly acclaimed opinion.

Now I want to know what YOU think! Do you agree with my opinions and ratings? Do you have a different idea? Who is YOUR favorite? Anyone want to take my bet;)? Let me know and post your ideas HERE!
